Yu-Ting Lin and Chol Mi Pang learned their first rivals at AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in Ulan Ude 

AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships first bouts took place in FSK-Arena in Ulan Ude, Russia. At Day 1 there were no sensations, but couple unexpected and exciting results.  

First seeded light flyweight boxer Hyang Mi Kim (PRK) meets with Risa Nakata of Japan, who took the first RSC in a second round against Lethabo Modukanele (BOT). Despite the first sustainable win Japan boxer will have tough challenge against Kim who are the bronze medalist of the last edition of AIBA World Boxing Championships.   

Australian Kaila Riley challenged World Championships bronze medallist-2014 Chuthamat Raksat of Thailand. But Raksat won unanimously in a confident manner. Her next rival is 32-years-old experienced 3d seeded Meng-Chieh Pin (TPE). 

Endang Endang (INA) performed against Breeanna Locquiao (USA). 28-years-old American born in Hawaii started boxing 3 years ago and had just 16 fights. Before she used to be a football player. And today he recorded first win with split decision 3:2 over Indonesian. Next round she faces Russian favourite second seeded Ekaterina Paltseva.  

Team Ireland start the Championship with the first win of Ceire Rose Smith in flyweight against Commonwealth bronze medallist Taylah Robertson of Australia. After celebration an unanimous win in a first bout she needs to face first seeded defending World Champion Chol Mi Pang (PRK). 

Bronze medalist of World Championships 2018 in flyweight Tsukimi Namiki (JPN) fought against two-time World champion in light flyweight Nazym Kyzaibay (KAZ) who moved up to a new weight class. She couldn’t succeed at the first bout lost with split decision to Japanese 4:1. 

Commonwealth Games winner Skye Nicolson (AUS) performed against Bolortuul Tumurkhuyag (MGL) and secured unanimous victory. Next round she faces one of the featherweight favourites first seeded Yu-Ting Lin (TPE), the defending World champion.

World champion of 2016 edition Alessia Mesiano from Italy stepped into the ring against Yamileth Solorzano (ESA) at the last fight of the Day 1. She recorded a unanimous win and next round challenges 4th seeded AIBA World Championships 2018 bronze medalist Jemyma Betrian from Netherlands who also did kickboxing and muay-thai. 

On Friday, October 4th, preliminary rounds in the bantamweight, lightweight and welterweight divisions are scheduled.
