Germany’s Franklyn Dwomoh delivered the fastest success of the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships

The Germans arrived at the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships with a new team but some of the boxers are well-experienced in the line-ups. Franklyn Dwomoh competed at EUBC Championships between 2016 and 2018 and he regained his place in the top squad after two and half years of break.

The German has just moved up to the light welterweight (64kg) before the start of the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships where he faced first with Hungary’s newcomer Patrik Petriman. The Hungarian had the massive height advantage in this preliminary contest but he was not able to use it in the first exchanges. Dwomoh’s left-handed hook was more than heavy for the inexperienced Hungarian who went down to the floor. The German boxer needed only 21 seconds to decide the contest, therefore, his debut was just a simple warm-up for him.

Lithuania’s No.1 Aleksandr Trofimcuk delivered a powerful performance in the middleweight (75kg)

Croatia’s Antonio Grabic is the country’s biggest talent who claimed medals at the EUBC European Junior and Schoolboys Boxing Championships in the previous years. The Croatian middleweight (75kg) boxer fought against Lithuania’s Aleksandr Trofimcuk who showed almost the same results as a junior.

The Croatian tried to keep the safest distance with his longer hands in the first minute but he lost control quickly. The Lithuanian caught Grabic with tough shots at the end of the second minute and took the lead on the scorecards. Trofimcuk has also done a wonderful combination near to the ropes and continued his dominancy in the bout against the talented Croatian who could not repeat his previous performances.

The Lithuanian was more active in the second round while Grabic was not able to maintain the fighting distance in their contest today. Trofimcuk put the Croatian under pressure also in the third round and his impressive power was the difference today. The strong Lithuanian exceeded the previous expectations and eliminated Grabic by a large margin of differences.
